The Redsox are one series away from advancing to the World Series after beating the Angels 8-6 Friday night to sweep them 3-0. David Ortiz hit a 2 run homer in extra innings to win the game for the Sox. They will either face the Twins or Yankees in ALCS. I am cheering for the Yankees because of how exciting the ALCS between the Redsox and Yankees was last season. GO REDSOX!

Expos Moving To D.C.?

According to two baseball officials, Bud Selig will likely announce that the Montreal Expos will move to Washington D.C. next year with the approval of funds. Selig said that this move might be a temporary solution but Washington is already looking to build a new ballpark. The likely owner of the team would be the Baltimore Orioles owner Peter Angelos. The highest ranked official told The Associated Press that the deal would be finalized around a week so they could move them next year. The proposed making of a new ballpark might be built around the area of Dulles International Airport, about 60 miles from Camden Yards. This total project will cost more than $450 million dollars.

Bonds gets 700

Barry Bonds joined an exclusive club last night as he hit his 700th homerun. The 42 year old Bonds is now just 14 homers away from all time great Babe Ruth and is just 55 homers away from Hank Aaron, the all time homerun leader. If Bonds keeps putting up these amazing numbers, he should become the all time homerun leader early in the 2006 season.

A Great Opener

The NFL season started with a bang as the Patriots beat the Colts 27-24. Colts' kicker Mike Vanderjagt missed the what would have been game tying field goal with 47 seconds left in the game. Vanderjagt had made a NFL record 42 straight field goals before missing this one.

Tom Brady looked great throwing for 335 yards and 3 touchdowns. Corey Dillion rushed for 86 yards on 15 carries.

The Colts shot themselves in the foot during this game when they turned the ball over 3 times in the red zone.

The Colts again proved that they are not yet a great NFL football team. This game was theirs' for the taking and they let it slip out of their hands.

NFL Season Opener

The NFL season starts tonight with the New England Patriots going against the Colts. These teams met last year in the AFC Championship game. The Patriots won it and went on to win the Super Bowl. The Patriots added Corey Dillon to the mix in the offseason to make themselves even better. The Colts will be looking to avenge that 28-14 loss they suffered in Foxboro last playoffs. It should be a great start to the NFL season.

Baron Davis leaving the Hornets?

New Orleans Hornet star Baron Davis could be looking to be traded out of New Orleans. His agent advised him to demand a trade. Baron Davis said he trusts his agent but he is planning on playing with the Hornets this season unless something major occurs. We will just have to stay put and see what happens.

In 2001 he signed a 6 year, 84 million dollar contact.

Kobe's Charges Dropped

He's Back!

Deion Sanders is officially coming back to NFL after passing his physical on Tuesday. He signed a one year deal worth about 1.5 million with the Baltimore Ravens. Deion last played in the NFL in 2000 when he was with the Washington Redskins. He is highly regarded as one of the best cover cornerbacks ever. He has won 2 superbowls and has scored 15 touchdowns in his career. He is 37 years old now, maybe past his prime but he should still make an impact with the Ravens. Baltimore is hoping he can be the final piece to them winning the Super Bowl once again. Here is what "Primetime" said to the media after Wednesday's practice.

"I prepare to win, I prepare to dominate, I prepare to conquer," Sanders said among his opening statements. "I prepare to win it all, and that's one of the reasons I'm here."

Canada Trumps USA

Canada beat USA 2-1 in the World Cup of Hockey on Tuesday night. It was the opening game for both teams.

Martin St. Louis had a goal and an assist to lead Canada. Joe Sakic also scored for Canada to secure the victory. Bill Guerin scored the lone goal for USA.

Both goalies looked great in this game. Martin Brodeur was incredible for Canada and even though Robert Esche took the loss for USA, he too looked great.

This was a great game. It was a hard hitting defensive affair. Even Mario Lemieux went after Steve Konowalchuk during this game. This was a great way to start off the tournament even though the Americans took the loss.

U.S Mens Hoops Pulls It Together For Bronze

America beat Lithuania 104-96 for the bronze medal Saturday night. Shawn Marion had 22 points while Iverson had 15 points and Odom and Marbury both shared 14 points. Dispite missing their first five 3-point attempts, they came back and hit 8 including 4 in the fourth quarter. They closed the night off by scoring 21 of 35 points scored in the fourth quarter. Allen Iverson said he was very disappointed of how the team played and conducted themselves. He said being chosen for the team should be a great honor and that every person should play the best. I totally agree with Iverson. Look at how much money they are being paid. They should play their hardest at least for that, but then they have another reason to play hard; their country.

U.S Mens Hoops Falls To Argentina

After the past few games, the Americans looked like they were playing up to potential. But Friday night everything fell apart again. They lost to Argentina 89-81 in the semifinals round. Manu Ginobli lead Argentina with 29 points. As I said in my last article, the U.S had to hit their shots, stay out of foul trouble, and not make any mental mistakes. They completed not one of these tasks. They missed most of their 3-point attempts and they lost Duncan to foul trouble early on. Tim Duncan had 10 points after only playing 19 1/2 minutes during the game. Stephon Marbury lead the American with 18 points. This is the first year the United States will not be eligable for the gold medal since 1988. They will play Lithuania for the bronze medal.

U.S Mens Hoops Turns Up Intensity

Larry Brown told everyone that the U.S would start hitting their jump shots and that is exactly what happened Thurday. As proof of that, Stephon Marbury scored a record 31 points in the victory over Spain. Spain stayed with the United States the whole game but couldnt hold on losing 102-94. The U.S knocked down 12 3-pointers, hit free throws when they needed them, and werent rattled over one foul. The games that they lost in were the ones where they would make mental or stupid mistakes. Allen Iverson added to the Americans win with 16 points. Carlos Boozer had 12 points and Lamar Odom scored 11 points.

Contenders For The MLB MVP

Everyone knows that Barry Bonds is going to contend for this years MVP. Scott Rolen and Albert Pujols will give Bonds a run for his money. But how about Adrian Beltre of the Los Angeles Dodgers. He is hitting .334 and is the first player this year to belt 40 HR. Beltre has also led his team to first plave in the NL West by five games. Adrian is going to have to beat out Bonds who is batting .369 with 35 HR, 79 RBI and a .612 on-base percentage. Gold Glover, Scott Rolen is batting .326 with 30 HR and an amazing 110 RBI to help lead the Cardinals along with Albert Pujols. He is batting .323 with 38 HR and 96 RBI. I dont think Pujols will win it at this point but that might change. If the Giants get a playoff spot, you know that anyteam in their right mind will try to pitch around Bonds which will take away his hitting in the playoffs. The Cardinals are going to make it into the playoffs. I dont think their opponent will try to pitch around him because their whole lineup is filled with great hitters. He will have a very good chance to show what he is really made of. But I still think that Adrian Beltre has the best chance to show everyone what he really can do in the playoffs. The Dodgers dont have the lineup that the Cardinals have which will help Beltre stickout a little more than Rolen and Pujols. Those two will have to do a little more work.

Dampier Traded To Mavs

Tuesday was a very busy day for the Dallas Mavericks and the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors sent Erick Dampier and Dan Dickau to the Mavs for Christian Laettner, Eduardo Najera, rights to two guards and two future first-round draft picks. Dampier signed the seven year contract worth $73 million dollars. Last year, he averaged 12 points and was fourth in the NBA in rebounding averaging 10 rebounds a game. After the Mavs lost some big men in the offseason, Dampier was much needed. Najera only averaged 5 points and 4 rebounds last year but he was limited because of season long knee problems. Over a 12-year career, Laettner has averaged 13 points and 7 rebounds.

Quincy Carter Is Back

After the surprising release of Dallas quarterback Quincy Carter, the New York Jets signed Carter to a one-year deal Tuesday as a backup to Chad Pennington. Jets head coach, Herman Edwards said not giving Carter a second chance was a crime. This was the second time that Carter has failed a drug test. "I was even shocked!"Quincy said in a press conference. Now that the Cowboys have Vinny Testaverde as their starting quarterback, these two teams pretty much just swapped quarterbacks. Last year, Carter led the Dallas Cowboys to ten regular season victories which also was his first full season as a starting quarterback. The Jets believe he will be a magnificent fit into the organization.

After the devastating loss to Lithuania, the Americans finally played the way they should have from the beginning beating Angola 89-53 on Monday. Tim Duncan had a team high 15 points and the U.S dominated the boards with 52 rebounds, Angola had just 17 rebounds. Carlos Boozer and LeBron James each had 11 points and Allen Iverson added 10 points.

NFL Blockbuster Deal

In the NFL pre-season world, the Miami Dolphins chose to trade Adewale Ogunleye to the Chicago Bears in return for wide receiver Marty Booker and a 2005 third round draft pick. Ogunleye was last years AFC sack leader(15). On the other hand, he also boycotted all of the Dolphins training camps and practices. Adewale signed a 10 million dollar signing bonus and a 5 million dollar roster bonus.
